What is SEO?
In very basic terms, SEO (Search Engine Optimization) is how one get’s a website to show up properly on Google or other search Engines.
It has been around since the dawn of Search Engines, and I personally have been in the field for over a decade. It falls in the realm of website development since it is mostly done on the back/front end of your website.
I describe SEO as putting certain words certain places in the structures of your website so the search engines know what your site is about and help people find you online.
There are a number of aspects to showing up appropriately online:
website functionality
website design
website format & accessibility
Proper Metadata & page information
Relevant internal & external linking
Image & Heading formatting
plus a few more tech-y things
By using best SEO practices and staying on top of website & SEO maintenance, one can manage (and grow) their ranking on search engines like Google. There’s a lot of web development, keyword research, and nerdy details that go into it.
Done right and done properly, it can help websites show up to the people who are looking for it.
